During the summer of 2015, our two young boys, then 6 and 7, competed in track meets throughout the summer and both qualified for the Junior Olympics National Track Meet in Jacksonville, FL. We were continually asked the question, "How can I get my child involved in track and field?" We saw that there was a need for a track and field club in the Hoover area, so the following summer, we founded Over the Mountain Track Club. The next summer, our club more than doubled in size, thus affirming the growing interest of track and field.
Our desire is to coach our athletes in a way that leads them to be not only better athletes, but better young men and women. We will focus on growing their character while growing their skills in most aspects of track and field: sprints, long distance, javelin, shot put, long jump, and more.
Our goal is to inspire a love of the sport, a respect for their fellow athletes and competitors, and a mindset that looks past the 400m track they train on at practice.
Our 2020 club will be capped to the first 100 paid registrants.
We will have a waiting list once we reach 100 athletes
Our spring/summer training program is for youth, ages 6 and above, and lasts for
6 weeks, beginning Thursday, May 14th.
We will practice every Tuesday and Thursday evening, from 6-7:15pm, offering specialty training beginning at 5:30 most practice days
The level of commitment is based on the individual.
Our athletes can simply practice for the duration of the training season or compete in as many outdoor track meets throughout the summer as possible.
**Those wishing to compete in the State, Regional, or National USATF meets are required to have a valid USATF number. When registering,
enter 090210 for our club name. This must be renewed each year.
To ensure that all athletes have the
opportunity to train with OTM Track Club,
families are given the option to find a
business to sponsor their athlete(s).
Information can be found under the
"Sponsorship" tab at the top menu of our web page.
