Volunteer Info

All Volunteers Must Have a Red Wristband

OTM parents who are volunteering can get a red wristband at the pavilion during practice this week.

If you did not get a wristband ahead of time, you can get one at the Volunteer Entrance Gate upon arrival.

All Volunteers Must Check In and Check Out

All volunteers must check in and out with our volunteer coordinator, Missy, upon arrival and upon finishing their volunteer time slot.

In the early morning, she will be at the entrance gate for volunteers (#15 on the graphic below). In the later morning, she will be at the pavilion, located inside the track (#3 on the graphic below). Even if you know where you are volunteering, you must check in with her.

OTM parents who signed up to volunteer but do not show up or serve their time will receive a payment request for their athlete's registration fee.

Volunteer FYIs

If for some reason you are unable to fulfill your volunteer obligation, it is vitally important to the success of our track meet that you let us know ASAP so we can find a replacement for your volunteer area. (Before the 29th, please email. On the 29th, please post to slack, as email will not be checked)

OTM parents who signed up ahead of time can reference the sign up genius to remember where you signed up to volunteer. Other volunteers will be placed in the area of greatest need; this may include lining athletes up at field events and making sure they stay in order, retrieving implements (for those non-track people, that just means bringing the javelin, shot put, or discus back to the athlete after they throw), raking sand pits, moving the high jump bar, bringing refreshments to the officials, bringing the timer (the trailer on the turf/track near the start line) field event scoring sheets after the event is finished, etc... There will be officials at each event so you do not need to be knowledgeable in that area to be helpful!

If you are near the track and hear "Hurdle Crew please help on the track" - that means you if you're not volunteering somewhere at the time! :) Anyone can help move a hurdle on the track and we will need assistance at two main times during the meet - directly following both the 200m Hurdle race and the 400m open races. They're not very heavy, but it's time consuming if we only have a few people moving them... We just need willing and able helpers to assist so that it doesn't take too long.

If your child is competing and you need to leave your area to watch, use the walkie talkie to find a replacement volunteer for the time being and please come back to your volunteer location afterwards.

Depending on how the meet is running, some volunteer areas may get switched around to fill the greatest needs - thank you for your flexibility!

Our goal is to make this a FUN experience for athletes and run this meet as efficiently as possible! Thank you for helping!!!

See the graphic below if you're unfamiliar with the Hoover High track.
